Jeffrey F. Morris Laboratory – Overview

Overview

Research in the Jeffrey F. Morris’s group focuses on the development of a fluid mechanical description appropriate for complex fluids, particularly suspensions and colloids, with a recent focus on the interaction of frictional interactions with viscous forces. The group has conducted significant research on rheologically-induced phenomena unique to mixtures, including bulk particle migration and has mentored projects in various other fields like gas-hydrate emulsions. Current research includes:

Contact Line Motion
Hysteresis in Capillary Bridges
(with Mark Shattuck, Physics Department, CCNY)

Interfacial Phenomenon
Models of Colloidal Motors
(with Charles Maldarelli, Physics Department, CCNY)

Suspension Rheology
Structural behavior of bi-disperse suspensions
