Research and Professional Experience

1. Senior Research Scientist II, Energy and Environment Directorate, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (2014-current). Leading a RT3 (Particle Interactions) for DOE-BES/IDREAM EFRC and a project related to colloid-facilitated radionuclides transport under DOE/Office of Nuclear Energy. Leading projects for PNNL NPSI related to colloid-rheology and for PNNL MS3 related to mineral nanoparticle self-assembly.

2. Senior Research Scientist I, Energy and Environment Directorate, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (2008-2013). Served as a key technical personnel for a number of projects associated with Hanford tank waste slurries/pretreatment processes and rheology of cementitious wastes.

3. Guest Researcher, Polymer Division, National Institute of Standard and Technology(2007-2008). Developed a new experimental technique to fractionate singlewall carbon nanotubes by length and chirality.  Characterized single-wall carbon nanotubes by static/dynamic light scattering and fluorescence spectroscopy.

4. Postdoctoral Researcher, Princeton University (2003-2006). Developed a new quantitative theory on van der Waals torques in molecular self-assembly adsoprtions of nano-crystallite aggregations. Developed the mechanism for E-field induced structural regulation of micellar structure in nanoscopic silica organic/inorganic composites.

5. Research Scientist/Engineer, Polymers Division, LG Chemical Ltd. (Rep. of Korea)(1993-1998). Investigated the reaction kinetics for grafting emulsion polymerization to develop novel thermoplastic polymer composites. Studied scale-up problems on coagulation of emulsions.
