“Simulations and Experiments of Non-Newtonian Dense Suspensions in Electronics Production”

ABSTRACT

The deposition of non-Newtonian dense suspensions is essential for a number of industrial applications ranging from pharmaceuticals to the production of electronics. One technology that can achieve this is based on the rapid displacement of fluid through a nozzle, the forming of a droplet and eventually the break-off of the filament, e.g. inkjet printing or jetting. The ability to model this process would facilitate the development of future jetting devices. A novel simulation framework will be presented including cases to highlight important aspects, such as droplet shape, volume and speed.
